| On 7th June 1989, 15 young people
and 5 staff met together for the first practice of "Cavalier
Marching Brass". With most of the young people never
having played an instrument before, no one had any idea how
the band would develop. During the winter months, they worked
very hard to learn the music and marching display and their
numbers increased to 34 members. At their first public performance,
the Brighton Band Competition in May 1990, they played their
hearts out and were awarded the Encouragement Trophy. They
all felt on top of the world!
Since that first competition the band has grown in ability
and stature (not to mention size!)and gained many awards.
