History - 1990 to 1991

Through 1990, the Cavaliers competed in 4 British Youth Band Association contests and finished in 20th place in the Novice League. As well as Band competitions, they played at charity events, fetes and carnivals in the Basingstoke area, and also played at Southampton's First Division Football Ground, The Dell. At the end of the 1990 season, band members and staff felt that they had achieved a great deal but felt they all needed to work harder for the next season.

And what a season 1991 turned out to be for Cavalier Marching Brass. The Band's strength increased to 56 members and all the hard work during the winter paid off as their 1991 Show gained them 5 competition wins out of 6, Runners-up in the British Youth Band Association (BYBA) Nationals at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, as well as Runners-up at the British Youth Band Championships in Wembley Arena. The Cavaliers' Field Commander became joint winner of the Field Commander League Title and they also won the Novice League Championship giving them promotion to the Contest Class for 1992 and a cupboard full of trophies from this period.
